49930 N Santiam Hwy SE SITE VISIT REPORT
Idanha, OR 97350-9503 State Farm Claim No. 37-11 K4-75P
Prior to the date-of-loss wildfire, there was a railroad-tie "retaining wall" on
the West side of the driveway, which made a 90° turn at the bottom of the driveway.
At this location there were at least five stacked railroad ties. They continued
Northward up the driveway, decreasing in net height above the driveway surface
[See Figures 84, 85, 86, & 87 below.]
y
j(rr
.._ ..•=.i. .;h.:'iy1'c_ «' Std.. e/ qF7 yam; •
ry: 1
•
- i
•
-1)) , A, t\ -"^
min
may,
1 •
RAILROAD-TIE RETAINING WALL[FIGURES 84, 85, 86, 87]
The railroad ties burned as a result of the wildfire. It is our opinion that the
damage at the bottom of the driveway, which corresponds approximately with the
location of the 90° turn (corner) of the former retaining wall, was due to sustained
heat against the asphalt from burning railroad ties. It's feasible that tar melted from
the petroleum-enriched railroad ties onto the asphalt where it and the wood burned.
(The term "Burn Spot" is being used to describe this location on the Driveway Plan
and for discussion.)
