It may have been an issue with compaction on that steeper
section of driveway and/or if the asphalt paver had to resetup, reload, or change
direction at that location.
It is difficult to determine whether the diagonal crack occurred after the date-
of-loss, but it seems possible based on the relatively heavy loads along the edge of
the driveway at that location of slope change. However, it is our opinion that the
perpendicular crack and the series of parallel cracks in the middle of the driveway
substantially occurred prior to the date-of-loss.
As noted above at the beginning of this ASPHALT DRIVEWAY section of the
report, the driveway appeared to be in good condition overall, with the exception of
the three "zones" discussed above. The cracking that does exist is actually relatively
minor. Nevertheless, there are multiple methods of repair or replacement. One
method could be to patch the burn spot and seal the cracks, but that might be
Report Date: March 28, 2021 Page 41 of 44
Site Visit Date: March 6, 2021 Taylor& Syfan Consulting Engineers, Inc.
