According to the property owner,the entire septic system was installed in 1992.Marion County has no permit records for the system,therefore this department has operated under the assumption that it was installed without a permit. Per OAR 340-071-0185 the system must be decommissioned.However,as a reasonable reapair,this department has allowed the system to be partially uncovered and inspected to see if it was installed in accordance with OAR 340-071-0220.The drop box,and the beginning, middle and end of both lines were uncovered.A laser level was used to verify that the trenches were installed within 1 inch of level.A test pit was examined to ensure the installation depth(36")was appropriate.The soil consisted of a loam texture with no limiting layer or temporary water table within 48". -Properly decommission the old septic tank and submit appropriate documentation. •The system must be installed by the property owner or a licensed sewage disposal business(installer). -All tanks must be tested for watertightness and have a water-tight riser to the ground surface.Twenty-inch minimum diameter if less than 36-in deep.Thirty-inch minimum diameter if greater than 36-in deep.Maintain access to septic tank for pumping and service. •A minimum 18-gauge,green jacketed tracer wire or green color-coded metallic tape must be placed on top of the effluent sewer or pressure transport pipe from tank to drainfield. -Effluent sewer.The effluent sewer must extend at least 5 feet beyond the septic tank before connecting to the distribution unit. It must be installed with a minimum fall of 4 inches per 100 feet and at least 2 inches of fall from one end of the pipe to the other.
