<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Dog Control Officer <br />Class Code: <br />124 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$19.49 - $26.11 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Non-Exempt 04 Protective ServicesCommunity Services <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Dog Control Officers enforce dog control ordinances, related laws and regulations; patrol areas of the <br />county while responding to and investigating complaints of dog control violations; enforces dog license <br />codes and statutes; capture, handle, transport and impound dogs. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Shelter Manager, who assigns duties, establishes goals and <br />reviews work for conformance to established performance standards and adherence to dog control <br />ordinances, related laws, regulations and statues. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a normal responsibility of positions in this classification. May provide <br />training to others as part of assigned duties. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Patrols county areas driving a dog control vehicle to enforce county dog control codes, related <br />laws and regulations. Captures and impounds lost dogs, aggressive dogs and/or injured dogs and <br />transports them to the appropriate facility. <br />2.Investigates livestock violations, aggressive dog, nuisance complaints and non-compliance of <br />county codes. <br />3.Prepares and maintains concise and accurate reports for office files, courts and hearings. <br />4.Participates in hearing case preparation, testifies in court and administrative hearings on <br />infractions and criminal trials. <br />5.Works with other departments in county, state and city government on dog-related problems. <br />6.Issues infractions according to State Dog Statutes and Marion County Dog Codes. Interpret, apply <br />and enforce pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations related to dog control. <br />7.Utilization of modern office practices, methods and computer equipment. <br />8.Provides excellent and professional customer service in emotional and stressful situations. <br />9.Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted <br />in the course of work. <br />10.Educates the general public, schools and other agencies on dog care, safety and welfare. <br />http://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecI...10/12/2020 <br /> <br />
