<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Legal Secretary 1 <br />Class Code: <br />016 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$17.82 - $23.85 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt 06 Administrative SupportDistrict Attorney <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Independently performs a variety of responsible administrative legal support activities according to <br />established practice and procedures; performs related work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of a Legal Assistant Supervisor, who assigns work, sets goals, and reviews <br />work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with department policies and goals. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Receives and transfers business calls on a multiple-line system; provides information; transfers or <br />refers calls to proper source; takes and delivers messages; schedules appointments. <br />2.Greets the public and directs to appropriate staff. <br />3.Effectively operates specialized office equipment and performs simple maintenance on office <br />machinery; orders office supplies and equipment, and maintains inventory. Distributes and <br />processes mail. <br />4.Types variety of documents including legal forms from handwritten material into suitable formats; <br />proofreads text and corrects for grammar, clarity, punctuation, spelling, and format; performs data <br />entry. <br />5.Effectively uses a variety of computer systems and software; retrieves and enters data from a <br />variety of documents into computer formats; identifies hardware and software problems. <br />6.Performs basic math calculations; collects fees, issues receipts, and sends out overdue notices. <br />7.Coordinates with court staff to calendar all court actions and the status of each file in the pending <br />docket. <br />8.Creates, retrieves from, and maintains complex and specialized filing systems; conducts file and <br />record searches; indexes and cross indexes records; logs documents for public record; files case <br />mail and case files; updates and purges files, cassettes, or tapes according to department <br />guidelines. <br />9.Backs-up other positions as needed. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
