Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />7.Initiates and maintains a variety of files records and monitoring systems relating to operations of <br />the Office of Legal Counsel; maintains manuals and updates resource materials; develops and <br />revises forms and report formats. <br />8.Manages and maintains employee records on payroll and time reporting, applying the provisions <br />of Marion County Personnel Rules and labor contracts; processes departmental accounts payable <br />and receivable; monitors and compiles billings and reports on departmental activities. <br />9.Answers phone, schedules appointments, opens and distributes mail, orders office supplies. <br />10.Performs other duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from high school, preferably supplemented with courses in typing, word processing, <br />office practices and legal terminology; AND <br />2.Four (4) years of experience in office and clerical work, two (2) years of which must have been law <br />related experience of a responsible nature; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of: standard and legal office practices; business English, spelling, composition and <br />basic statistical methodology; legal terminology and principles. <br />Skill and ability in: transcribing difficult machine dictation; operating a computer and word processing <br />software; planning and prioritizing work; making decisions independently in accordance with established <br />policies; using initiative and judgment in carrying out tasks and responsibilities with only general <br />instructions and guidance; establishing and maintaining effective and professional working relationships <br />with the public, other agencies, and co-workers; composing letters and reports in effective style and <br />business form; effectively communicate in both oral and written form. <br />ADOPTED: <br />06/84 <br />REVISED: <br />12/92; 05/96; 12/01; 08/06; 10/13 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />06/13; 12/18 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br />
