Provides direction and guidance, <br />and assists in unusual or difficult problems. <br />2.Coordinates Juvenile Court matters to obtain a unified solution that best serves the interests of <br />juvenile(s) involved. <br />3.Advises and coordinates Juvenile Department personnel, child- protection caseworkers, school <br />personnel and law enforcement officers in matters involving juveniles. <br />4.Initiates and prosecutes all offenses and crimes, from misdemeanors to Aggravated Murder, in <br />which the offender is a juvenile. Consults with and advises police agencies in the course of <br />investigations, including application to the Court for orders that assist law enforcement in gathering <br />information concerning juveniles. Reviews police reports and makes all charging decisions. <br />Prepares case for preliminary hearing. <br />5.Initiates and prosecutes dependency petitions designed to bring juveniles within jurisdiction of the <br />Court for the juvenile's protection. Consults with and advises child protection caseworkers, Child <br />Abuse Network groups, Medical Child Safety groups and school organizations in the course of <br />investigating child welfare and safety matters. Reviews child protection investigations, police <br />reports, medical and psychiatric information in the course of generating dependency petitions for <br />preliminary hearing. <br />6.Prepares delinquency and dependency proceedings for trial, including contacting witnesses, <br />reviewing the case and seeking supplemental information and evidence. Prepares and argues <br />pretrial motions. Presents case to court for adjudication. <br />7.Prepares and argues motions to compel compliance with court orders. Presents case evidence for <br />court determination of merit. <br />8.Advises and consults with Juvenile Department staff, child protection caseworkers, law <br />enforcement officers, medical and school staff on matters of juvenile law, court policy and <br />procedures, including detention and apprehension of juveniles, options in prosecuting particular <br />juveniles and dispositional options. <br />9.Represents the State in all juvenile remand hearings; assists the Juvenile Court in assigned <br />projects, investigations and witness location; assists probation officers and caseworkers in <br />dispositional recommendations and presentations, including collating and collecting necessary <br />information requested by the Court in the disposition of cases; assists police agencies in the <br />application for arrest and search warrants. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from an accredited school of law; AND <br />2.Must be a member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar; OR <br />3.Be admitted to practice in the Federal Courts; AND <br />4.Minimum of three (3) years experience as a licensed attorney practicing criminal law. <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of: criminal law and the practices and procedures of criminal prosecution; court <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
