pipe. The gravel must be covered with filter fabric. When curtain drain outlet piping is covered by less
than 12 inches of soil, pipe must meet or exceed ASTM Standard D-3034. The outlet must be fitted with
a flap gate or rodent guard. The curtain drain must be located at least 10 feet up slope from the disposal
field and must discharge through a watertight non-perforated pipe beside or below the disposal field. A
minimum separation of 10 feet is required from the septic tank if the tank is located up slope of the
curtain drain and 5 feet if the tank is located down slope of the curtain drain.
A CAPPING FILL DRAINFIELD IS REQUIRED in conjunction with the attached septic system
approval. CAPPING FILL systems are installed in soils where a layer that limits the effective soil depth
or a water table is present in the soil profile at a depth shallower than allowed for a standard system. The
DISPOSAL TRENCHES are installed at a VERY SHALLOW DEPTH and APPROVED FILL is placed
over the trenches to provide earth cover over the system. Fill material must be evenly graded over the
DRAINFIELD and crowned at the center to shed rainfall.CAPPING FILL SYSTEMS MAY ONLY BE
INSTALLED FROM JUNE 1 AND OCTOBER I or during such times when the Building Inspection
Onsite Wastewater staff finds soil moisture conditions acceptable. See the attached"CAPPING FILL"
information sheet for instructions. NOTE: GRA VELLESS ABSORPTION TRENCHES MAY BE
INSTALLED IN LIEU of the CAPPING FILL DRAINFIELD.
A DETAILED SEPTIC SYSTEM STAKEOUT IS REQUIRED prior to the issuance of a septic system
installation permit. The area for the system is very limited and the stakeout must be completed to •
determine that the system will fit within the area of the approved test pits. A scale drawn, detailed site
plan must b submitted with the application for the installation permit. The stakeout must be inspected on
the property and approved before the permit can be issued.Instructions for the stakeout are attached and
are available in our office.
Additional Conditions of Site Approval
1. This site is approved for the type of disposal system described above. Peak sewage flow into the
system is limited to a maximum of 450 gallons per day, with an average sewage flow of not more
than 225 gallons per day. This is normally sufficient to serve a single family dwelling with a
maximum of four bedrooms. Premature failure of the treatment system may occur if either of these
flow quantities is exceeded. Iffor some reason you expect your domestic household water use may
exceed these flows, it may be advisable to increase the size of the treatment system.
2. Any alteration of natural soil conditions(i.e. cutting or filling) in the acceptable area may void this
approval.
3. Both the initial and replacement disposal areas are to be protected from traffic, livestock and farming
activities, development or other potential disturbance of natural soil conditions.
4. The area must not be subjected to excessive saturation due to,but not limited to, artificial drainage
of ground surfaces, roads, driveways and building down spouts.
5. This approval is given on the basis that the parcel described above will not be further partitioned or
subdivided.
6. Placement of a well within 100 feet of the approved areas may invalidate this approval.
This site approval is valid until the system approved above is constructed in accordance with a Marion
555 Court St NE - P.O.Box 14500-Salem,Oregon 97309-5036-Phone(503)588-5147-Fax(503)588-7948
Page 3 of 4
