xi4'`' '"q, , i on Building Inspection Division
County Building
Wastewater Review
` OREGOIMI
PUBLIC WORKS
Activity Number: 555-19-002880-INQY Date: May 23,2019
Project Address: 4914 Shannon Rd NE, Silverton
2 acres of Tax Lot 071W06 00300; Parcel 2 of 4, PLA 19-005
Completed By: Matthew Puntney, REHS
EXISTING SYSTEM REVIEW
This record review was conducted in conjunction with Property Line Adjustment Case number 19-005.
The proposal is to shift land between 4 parcels (see site plans for further details). This review is for
parcel 2, a 60 acre lot being reduced to 2 acres.
The Marion County file records have no information as to the size or the location of the existing septic
system serving this property.
Oregon Sewer & Drain located the system and pumped the tank on March 27, 2019. The technician
noted a 630 gallon concrete tank with approximately 150 linear feet of drainline. The technician noted no
signs of failure, but the system rested partially under an access road. This system appears to be age-
appropriate for the dwelling it is serving.
A site visit was made on May 15, 2019 in response to Property Line Adjustment Case 19-005. The
system was not failing but appeared to be under the road as the report indicated. IT IS STRONGLY
RECOMMENDED THAT THE SYSTEM BE REPLACED AND BROUGHT UP TO CURRENT
CODE UNDER A MAJOR ALTERATION PERMIT.
THIS RECORD REVIEW IS BASED ON THE INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY THE APPLICANT.
Please refer to the signed site plan dated May 23, 2019.
THE SEPTIC SYSTEM AREA MUST BE PROTECTED from any vehicular traffic, livestock and
farming activities. Other activities such as logging, excavating or filling, driveway placement or any
similar activities may also damage the soil in the area and adversely affect the septic system approval.
The areas of the initial septic system and the future repair area must both be protected.
THE SEPTIC TANK SHOULD BE PUMPED AND INSPECTED by a licensed septic tank pumping
service approximately EVERY THREE (3) YEARS, BASED ON THE SIZE OF THE TANK. The
septic tank is a reservoir for the solid materials in the sewage waste stream. Excessive accumulation of
these solid materials in the septic tank will cause the solids to wash out of the tank and into the drainfield.
This will cause irreversible damage to the drainfield and will eventually lead to a system failure.
5155 Silverton Rd NEāSalem,Oregon 97305-3802--Phone(503)588-5147--Fax(503)588-7948
