Marion Count, Building Insp
ection Division
Onsite Septic
Review
OREGON
PUBLIC WORKS
Activity Number: 555-19-000643-INQY Date: February 21, 2019
Project Address: 17124 South Abiqua Road NE, Silverton
Parcel 'A,' Partition Case 18-032; 1.3. Acres of TL 061E29DB00100
Completed By: Matthew Puntney, REHS
RECORD REVIEW
This existing system review was conducted in response to application for Partition Case No 18-032. This
review is for the residence and system on Parcel A.
Installation Permit Record: Marion County has no records regarding the installation of the system serving
this residence.
Components and Function: The tank was pumped by Farmers Septic on January 11, 2019. The pumper
noted a 1200 gallon tank and no signs of failure. The baffles appear to be in need of replacement. Lone Pine
Corner Septics, Inc. evaluated the drainfield on January 15, 2019. The technician noted approximately 60
linear feet of serial drainline and no signs of failure.
A site visit was conducted on February 15, 2019. The system was in use and showed no signs of failure.
The system had been electronically located and flagged. The drainfield does not meet setbacks to the ditch
and is likely undersized for the existing dwelling. Drainage from a pond ran very close to the ends of the
drainlines.
A test pit was evaluated to establish an area for a repair system. The area around the pit is suitable for a
STANDARD SYSTEM. Please refer to the field worksheet for further instruction detail.
The septic system area should be protected from any vehicular traffic, livestock and farming activities. Other
activities such as logging, excavating or filling, driveway placement or any similar activities may damage the
soil in the area of the drainfield and adversely affect system function. A RISER TO THE GROUND
SURFACE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO FACILITATE EASIER PUMPING.
The septic tank should be pumped and inspected by a licensed septic tank pumping service when sludge
and scum accumulation reaches 30% of tank volume. Pumping every 3-5 years is an average interval.
The septic tank is a reservoir for the solid materials in the sewage waste stream. Excessive
accumulation of these solid materials in the septic tank will cause the solids to wash out of the tank and
into the drainfield. This will cause irreversible damage to the drainfield and will eventually lead to a
system failure.
Disclaimer: This evaluation report describes the on-site system as it exists on the date of inspection and to
the extent that components and operation of the system are reasonably observable. Oregon Department of
Environmental Quality and Marion County recognize that this evaluation report does not provide assurance
or any warranty that the system will operate properly in the future.
5155 Silverton Road NE- P.O.Box 14500—Salem,Oregon 97309-5036--Phone(503)588-5147—Fax(503)588-7948
D.rnz.1 ..F 1
