<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Building Plans <br />Examiner 2 <br />Class Code: <br />107 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$28.32 - $37.92 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSAEEOCDepartment <br />: Non-Exempt : 03 Technicians : Public Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Examines and recommends corrections to building plans of a complex or highly technical nature, assists <br />the general public in obtaining permits and compliance with the requirements of the building code. <br />Performs other duties as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the supervision of the Assistant Building Official who outlines assignments and reviews work <br />through conferences and reports. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class; however, an incumbent <br />will be expected to take leadership in assisting less experienced examiners on training assignments or <br />examinations of a difficult or unusual nature. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />May perform any of the duties of the Building Plans Examiner 1 classification in this job series as well as <br />the following duties: <br />1.Examines commercial and residential building and site plans for compliance with County building, <br />plumbing, mechanical codes, Uniform Fire Code and other related standards. <br />2.Advises the Assistant Building Official on matters requiring engineering expertise. <br />3.Counsels architects, engineers, contractors and the general public relative to building, plumbing, <br />heating, Uniform Fire Codes, as applicable to their buildings, using engineering principles and <br />mathematical formulas. <br />4.Requires occasional driving and on-site visits as directed by Building Official. <br />5.Provides technical information on the various County codes to the field inspectors, using <br />professional knowledge and experiences. <br />6.Acts as instructor in all phases of building inspection. <br />7.Prepares technical letters when additional instructions are needed to accompany building permits. <br />Prepares technical reports as required. <br />8.Performs other duties as assigned. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
