<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Building Plans <br />Examiner Senior <br />Class Code: <br />104 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$31.20 - $41.80 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSAEEOCDepartment <br />: Non-Exempt : 03 Technicians : Public Works <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Responsible for providing technical direction of plans examiners in order to assure proper and uniform <br />review of construction plans in Marion County's Building Inspection program; makes recommendations for <br />policy changes; keeps abreast of technological changes and makes recommendations for approval. <br />Review all types of structures for compliance to state, county and local codes. Performs other related <br />work as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Building Official who outlines assignments and <br />reviews work through meetings and reports. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. However, the <br />incumbent acts as lead worker over Building Inspection employees, which, includes the reviewing of <br />work, organizing, planning and scheduling work assignments, participating in interviews and making <br />recommendations for selection of new personnel, providing training, and providing input on employee <br />performance evaluations. In the absence of the Assistant Building Official and/or Building and Planning <br />Division Manager, the Senior Plans Examiner may be assigned the Assistant Building Official's <br />responsibilities on a temporary basis. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Performs plan review of commercial, industrial, multi-family plans for compliance with state and <br />local codes; including structural, mechanical, fire and life safety and fire protection systems. <br />2.Provides assistance, leadership and coordinates the building plan review process; trains other <br />plans examiners; resolves technical issues by recommending or approving modifications and <br />alternate materials of method of construction as appropriate; respond to questions from other plan <br />review staff regarding code interpretation, application, and process. <br />3.Coordinates with Building Inspectors on issues related to plan review and inspections; assists with <br />field inspections, as needed. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
