Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />7.May have contact with aggressive clients or volatile situations. Will be required to respond to <br />emergency situations and interact to diffuse aggressive behavior utilizing corrections techniques <br />and established disciplinary controls. <br />8.Independently makes sanctioning and arrest decisions on parole and probation clients. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.One (1) year experience in professional case work; AND <br />2.Graduation from a four (4) year college or university; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Possession of, or obtain within 30 days of hire, an Oregon Driver's License. <br />> <br />Basic certification by the State Department of Public Safety Standards and Training as a Parole & <br />> <br />Probation Officer. <br />Must be subject to a background check including, but not limited to, criminal records. <br />> <br />Must be able to pass required psychological and physical exams. <br />> <br />Ability to hold, aim, and discharge firearm with sufficient accuracy to maintain minimum <br />> <br />department qualifications. <br />Complete Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) within first year of employment. <br />> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Considerable knowledge of: behavior and adjustment problems of clients and methods of treating them; <br />working knowledge of court and criminal laws of the State; working knowledge of computers. <br />Skill and ability to: individual and group work with clients; ability to effectively investigate the background <br />of clients, maintain effective working relationships with clients, volunteers, general public, and <br />employees; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; prepare accurate, complete and <br />competent reports; drive a motor vehicle; function effectively in a leadership capacity. <br />ADOPTED: <br />01/79 <br />REVISED: <br />07/80; 07/85; 10/94; 08/99, 07/00; 12/09; 11/10; 12/13 <br />MARKET REVIEW: <br />01/11; 01/14; 06/18 <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br />
