<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />GIS Analyst 3 <br />Class Code: <br />641 <br />Bargaining Unit: 08 - Marion County Employees <br />Association (Information Technology) <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$32.93 - $44.13 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSAEEOCDepartment <br />: Non-Exempt : 03 Technicians : Information Technology <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Employees at this level are experienced geographic information system (GIS) analysts with the ability to <br />support and/or program GIS system software in more than one major component; they have knowledge <br />of most all types of system software, regardless of the complexity of the software. Acts as a lead worker, <br />directing the work of GIS Analysts 1 and 2 in GIS analysis, developing, and programming. Works under <br />administrative direction. <br />Works on routine and advanced GIS analysis, programs and systems, works as a project leader and <br />mentor. Teaches other GIS Analysts computer technology, tests new technology, and makes <br />recommendations. Works on large projects with critical impact under very limited supervision and under <br />multiple and conflicting project deadlines. Provides highest level of expert consultation to management <br />and professional staff. Conducts comprehensive analysis, planning, development, and implementation for <br />the operations of Information Systems. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This classification series includes GIS Analyst 1, 2, and 3. The primary distinction between the GIS <br />Analyst 2 and 3 is the 3 level requires a high level of analytical skills necessary for resolving the most <br />complex issues, and for developing systems and programs to meet division needs. In addition, the GIS <br />Analyst 3 serves in a lead capacity, assigning and directing the work of technical GIS staff. The GIS <br />Analyst 3 works under the general supervision of a higher-level professional employee who assigns work, <br />establishes goals, and reviews work for conformance to technical standards and compliance with <br />department goals. Has a thorough knowledge of many disciplines within the GIS field. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Directs and evaluates the work of other technical, clerical, and part time staff in accomplishing <br />assigned tasks in a team environment. <br />2.Analyzes current and projected data processing needs, resources, and system performance to <br />plan new or modified applications; conducts and oversees research of new systems and <br />modifications; conducts and oversees feasibility studies and cost/benefit analyses and <br />recommends the most cost-effective approach to meet data processing requirements; provides <br />advanced technical support and training to system users. <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
