Assist with charging decisions, trial strategy and any <br />court appearances as needed. Review deputy district attorneys court performance and advise trial <br />team supervisors for performance evaluation purposes. <br />7.Represents the District Attorney at Oregon Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision on major <br />case hearings and litigation. <br />8.Serves as a District Attorney representative on multidisciplinary teams and inter-agency task <br />forces as assigned. <br />9.Serves as the in-service training coordinator for district attorney update/training requests. Acts as <br />the law enforcement liaison for Marion County law enforcement agencies. <br />10.Provides information as a legislative expert as directed by the District Attorney. Reviews proposed <br />and adopted legislation. Prepares summary impact statements and implementation <br />recommendations. Attends and advises legislature and Oregon District Attorneys Association <br />(ODAA) as directed. <br />11.Develops policy and helps design procedural and policy processes for the District Attorney as <br />directed. Manages long term projects that affect policy or procedure as directed. <br />12.Uses expertise to provide training or support to outside agencies (i.e., officer involved shootings, <br />Brady issues, ODAA). <br />13.Responsible for death investigations at the direction of the District Attorney. <br />14.Provides, on a scheduled basis, off-hour/on-call service to police agencies requiring assistance <br />during nights or weekends. <br />15.Prosecutes conflict-of-interest cases at the direction of the District Attorney. <br />16.Works as a mentor for deputy district attorneys to help them gain experience on major cases. <br />Advises the District Attorney and senior management staff as necessary. <br />17.Assists in training schedule for all deputy district attorneys. Maintains training list and approval of <br />all outside continuing legal education (CLE) attendance. Schedules and organizes inter-office CLE <br />trainings. Provides training for District Attorney staff as directed. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Graduation from an accredited school of law; AND <br />2.Must be a member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar; <br />3.Ten (10) years of experience as a licensed attorney practicing criminal law, including at least <br />seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience as a Deputy District Attorney 3. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. Must possess, at <br />> <br />time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record. <br />Must pass a criminal history background investigation. <br />> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Thorough knowledge of: criminal law and the practices and procedures of criminal prosecution; court <br />room and trial procedures.
