<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Assessment Clerk <br />Class Code: <br />074 <br />Bargaining Unit: 06 - Marion County Employees <br />Association <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$18.26 - $24.42 Hourly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br /> Non-Exempt 06 Administrative SupportAssessor <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs complex clerical duties requiring thorough knowledge of laws relating to assessment and <br />taxation of real and personal property; processes and maintains a variety of records and documents; <br />does related work as required. Includes extensive filing and file retrieval, and may include considerable <br />customer service at the counter and on the phone. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the direction or supervision of a Senior Assessment Clerk or supervisor who assigns work <br />and reviews performance for conformity with departmental and legal requirements. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class; however, may be <br />assigned to train individuals of a lower classification within the same series. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Processes a variety of applications and reports; interprets assessment laws and procedures. <br />2.Provides information to the public and other departments concerning laws and regulations relating <br />to assessment, taxation, appeal process and appraisals. <br />3.Processes records and documents as required in course of work; may be required to compose and <br />process correspondence related to assessment activities. <br />4.Maintains files and indexes; collects filing fees, and calculates taxes for disqualification from <br />special assessments. <br />5.Extensive use of computers to update appraisals, assessment rolls and other records.
