Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />5.Assists in determining need for further investigation, plan of inquiry, outlines proposed scope, <br />timing, and direction of investigation; conducts investigation; prepares reports on investigative <br />assignments. <br />Criminal Division <br />1.Assists in determining need for further investigation, plan of inquiry, outlines proposed scope, <br />timing, and direction of investigation; conducts investigation; prepares reports on investigative <br />assignments. <br />2.Locates and interviews witnesses or potential witnesses; serves subpoenas; and assures that <br />necessary witnesses are subpoenaed to trial and verifies their availability. <br />3.Coordinates extraditions (i.e. does not include implementation of extraditions/handling of <br />prisoners). <br />4.Assists Deputy District Attorneys in preparing major cases for trial <br />5.Assists Deputy District Attorneys in examining and photographing crime scenes; evaluates <br />physical evidence and criminology reports; prepares and organizes court exhibits and other <br />evidence for trial. <br />6.Informs public and answers inquiries regarding laws and court proceedings. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />1.Three (3) years law enforcement experience, which includes criminal investigations; AND <br />2.Two (2) years of college with specialization in police science field; OR <br />3.Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the <br />position. <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br />Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license. <br />> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br />Considerable knowledge of: investigation techniques and procedures; the principles of identification and <br />preservation of evidence; services providing information useful in locating persons; State laws concerning <br />rules of evidence; courtroom practices, procedures, and case presentation; criminal justice system. <br />Ability and skill to: obtain information and evidence by observations, record examinations and interviews; <br />analyze and evaluate the statements of witnesses or suspected violators; secure and present evidence in <br />oral or written form; to deal with citizens and public officials under conditions requiring tact and good <br />judgment; analyze situations accurately, to think and act quickly in emergencies, and to adopt an effective <br />course of action; to prepare correspondence and reports; operate a motor vehicle; operate a computer. <br />ADOPTED: <br />09/97 <br />REVISED: <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
