<br />Marion County Class Specification BulletinPage of <br />>>> <br />Hearings Officer <br />Class Code: <br />611 <br />Bargaining Unit: 13 - Non-Supervisory <br />MARION COUNTY <br />SALARY RANGE <br />$2,420.80 - $3,240.00 Biweekly <br />$5,245.07 - $7,020.00 Monthly <br />OVERVIEW: <br />FLSA: EEOC: Department: <br />Exempt02 Professionals Legal Counsel <br />GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES <br />Performs quasi-judicial hearings work; plans, prepares and conducts public hearings on land use, <br />relocation appeals, restaurant, abandoned property, swimming and tourist facilities, dogs and vehicle <br />tows; prepares written orders containing findings, conclusions, recommendations and decisions; <br />coordinates processes for distributing results of hearings and for entering results into the official record; <br />performs other duties as required. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the general supervision of the Board of Commissioners. Works with and coordinates work <br />with Legal Counsel who reviews work for effectiveness and conformance to county policy. <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />Supervision of other employees is not a normal responsibility of this classification. However, provides <br />direction and information to staff assigned to assist with caseload and to adjunct hearings officers. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED <br />TO THE FOLLOWING: <br />1.Schedules, prepares, conducts, and regulates the course of public hearings concerning land use, <br />and other types of hearings identified in general statement of duties. <br />2.Receives and examines relevant information on issues brought before the hearing; may conduct <br />on-site inspections of property, alleged violations, and towing incidents to gather relevant <br />information. <br />3.Hears and evaluates evidence and testimony from the staff of the affected department, applicants, <br />alleged violators, and other interested parties. <br />4.Interprets state law, county code, and state and federal constitutions in order to decide cases. <br />5.Writes official orders of decisions based upon consideration of the record, including findings of fact <br />and conclusions of law. <br />MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <br />https://agency.governmentjobs.com/marion/default.cfm?action=specbulletin&ClassSpecID=...8/3/2020 <br /> <br />
