Marian Cau~~~
OREGON
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
(503) 588-5212
MEMORANDUM
BOARD Of
COMMISSIONERS
Randali f~anke DATE: FEBRUARY 11, 1998
Gary Heer
Mary Pearmine
ADMINISTRATIVE TU: The Honorable Edwin Peterson, Chair, Special Project Oversight
OFFICER - COTT12111tt~e
Ken Roudybush ~~
FROM: Ken Roudybush, County Administrator
RE: Close out Costs and Alternatives for the Courthouse Square Project
Attached for your review is a joint Marion County/Salem Area Transit narrative
on project close out costs and altemat~ves to building Courthouse Square.
The data was compiled in response to three essential scenarios:
1. Marion County and/or Salem Area Transit abandon the Courtr~ouse Square
project, and neither agency proceeds with a project on the current site.
2. Sa1em Area Transit stays on the Senator Block site to develop the
downtown transit center and the county moves its county service center to
another location.
3. County stays on the Senator Block site to develop its county service center
and h~nsit relocates to another site.
To close out the project will result in an estimated $7,610,408 combined loss for
Marion County and Salem Area Transi~.
We have not provided a financial estimate of each alternative. This is largely due
to the complexity and time that such an analysis would require.
If you have any questions prior to the next SPOC meeting, please do not hesitate
to contact me at 588-5212 ar John Whittington, Salem Area Transit at 588-2424.
Marion County Courthouse • 100 High Street NE • Salem, Oregon 97301-3670
