~ ~
From: DAVID HARTWIG
To: BWasson
Date: 12/5/97 8:12am
Subject: Courthouse Square
I want to applaud your quick and assertive decision making specifically to MeNin Mark. This has been absent from
this project for too long.
As to the environmental issues, the proforma that I have seen do not appear to have costs for site preparation,
demolftion or environmental costs. I have asked Randy about this for several weeks and he does not answer. To
give you an idea as to the cost, demolition was ~$575,000; hazardous materials abatement-cLD $300,000;
remediation of the Senator Block-(cD $400,000 and there will be costs associated with DE~ site closure
requirements that may be $20-25,000. These are my quick estimates. I did not do research to verify each number
because, at this time, I only wanted to give you the overview.
Apparently, there is some sort of budget number that Elyn is working from, but I do not know what it is, how it was
put together or how it relates to the project budget.
Billy, our staff has the ability to help you and Cheryl if you need. Just let me know if there is something you would
like us to do.
You're going to do a great job!
CC: CHlavinka
