PORTFOLIO STRATEGIES
CASH
Designed for: Clients who desire limited principal value fluctuation with the potential to
earn superior yields relative to comparable money market instruments.
Investment universe: Short term governments and agencies, high quality commercial paper
and other high quality short term instruments permitted by client guidelines.
EXTENDED CASH PORTFOLIOS
Designed for: Clients with more flexibility on the maximum duration of individual
securities while seeking to maintain the overall portfolio's mandated duration.
Investment universe: These portfolios use the same quality securities selected for Cash
portfolios, but the duration of some securities may be longer - as appropriate ~or each
individual client. (This strategy reduces the risk of rolling over securities at lower rates
in declining interest rate environments while increasing portfolio returns.)
ENHANCED CASH PORTFOLIOS
Designed far: Clients who desire the higher returns normally associated with longer
duration cash portfolios and/or lower quality issues. These clients are willing to bear
some amount of return fluctuation, within a carefully defined and limited portion of
their portfolio.
Investment universe: Portfolios are predominantly invested in traditional Cash and
Extended Cash portfolio strategies. A small portion of the portfolio may be invested in
alternative strategies offering the potential for higher returns but with an element of
potential increased risk, as an alternative to changing the risk profile of the entire
portfolio. Such alternative strategies include: distressed securities, tax liens, and other
non-traditional cash investments.
POTENTIAL SOURCES OF FUNDS AVAtLABLE FOR INVESTMENT
Short Term Investment Funds Working Capital Accounts
Securities Lending Collateral Acquisition Funds
Retirement Fund Separate Accounts Contingency Reserves
Bond Reserve Accounts Dividend Accrual Accounts
Captive Insurance Funds Capital Asset [nvestment A1C's
Deferred Compensation PortY'olios Structured Settlement Portfolios
Escrow Accounts Litigation Reserves
Special Purpose Funds Excess Working Capital
Dedicated Cash Flow Portfolios
