April 1997 Berrey was not~ed that his 5% development fee was not justified based on <br />changes in his scope of work and significant reduction in financial risk brought <br />about by county fmancing of its portion of the project. <br />May 1997 Berrey was notified that his services as project coordinator/developer weuld be <br />terminated. Negotiations regazding his compensation were unsuccessful. The <br />parties agree to use mediation to resolve the compensation issues. An RFP was <br />issued to solicit the services of a new project developer/manager. <br />June 1997 Melvin Mazk Compaaies was selected from 12 responders as the new project <br />manager/developer. <br />Demolition of the Senator Block buildings begins. <br />Transit completes purchase of 42% interest in Senator Block ($2,232,563) <br />July 1997 The original design was determined to be flawed and significantly over budget. <br />The work on project design was halted by the county and transit district, and the <br />development team was directed to find a new design that would maintain key <br />features of the project and bring it back into budget. This agreement would allow the project to <br />proceed to the GMP phase.
