Men~o~and~u~n
To: Kathleen
From: Geoff
Date: September Z9, I997
Re: Staton eontract submittals, waste disposal, recycIing, and salvage data
Staton appears to have met the submittal raquirements as outiined in your 9/I7/97 Ietter. I reviewed
the disposal, recycling, and salvage sale data, and they were, for the most part, in order. I went
through each individual receipt to verify quantity of materials recycled vs. disposed of and to verify
salvage revenue. Clarification on the following items wouId be helpfut:
I. The receipts for record numbers I4-Z0, Z6, 33-39, 43,44,47, and Z83-Z$6, alI of which were
disposed of at Kive~end Landfill, are handwritten on a singie sheet of paper. Where are the
dump reoeipts or tipping records7
Z. The receipt for record Z6 shows a total of 90 tons of materiaI being recycIed, fiowever the
recycling report Iists it as I SJ tons.
3. Receipts for t~acords 40-4Z, 45, 46,SZ, and 53, an wri~ at wooa wasc~, sr~ ~o~g~
oonsistenfIy lower than those tHat appear in the recycling report It Iooks tike this d'ifference
oomes from the couversion factor used to comert from cu~ic yards to tons. In tke above
receipts ~he conversion factor used is as Iow as .I$ while Iater in the report it is as Iugh as .41. ]
assume that is because tbe voIume/weight relations~iip changes as t~-e demolition wastes change
but shouIdn't the above weights be used as they were originally calculated7
4. We bave no receipt for record 50, wIuch was a sale of doors for ~1,25d to a private parly.
5. In reoord 87, concrete is used as shoring material in the Lui building. When was this material
actually hauled off-site, and how did Staton differentiate between tlris material and basement
demolition wastes when calculating its recycling totals.
6. No weight is Iisted on original receipt for record 107. In the recycling report the weigiit is
Iisted as I3.Z tons.
7. Receipt for record 1941ists a ZZ.6 tons of debris d'isposed of, but the recycIing report onty Tists
I4.2
8. Reoeipt for record Z6I lists a 3.1 tons of debris disposed of, but the recycling repod onIy Iists
Z.9.
