Additional kitchens in a dwelling unit are permitted provided all kitchens in the dwelling unit are used by only one family. * CALL FOR AN INSPECTION * * WHEN THIS PERMIT * * IS ISSUED * 6. SMOKE DETECTORS / ALTERATIONS. When alterations, repairs or additions requiring a permit occur, or when sleeping rooms are added or created, the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as required for new dwellings; the smoke detectors shall be interconnected and hard wired. EXCEPTION: Detectors shall not be required to be inter- connected and hard wired where the alterations, repairs, or additions do not result in the exposure of electrical wiring by the removal of interior wall and ceiling finishes, [Sec. 316.1.1] 7. SMOKE DETECTORS shall be installed in each sleeping room. outside of each separate sleeping aFea in the in~ediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the dwelling including basements. All detectors located outside sleeping rooms shall be interconnected such that the actuation of one alarm will actuate these alarms in the individual unit and shall provide an alarm which will be audible in all sleeping areas. Smoke detectors shall be 110 volt with batter back-up. [Sec. 316.1] 8, ACCEPTABILITY. This plan review covers the addition to and/ or alteration of an existing structure. This review is not intended to prohibit the building inspector from requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing structural members that may appear to be unsafe. Existing construction not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and struc- tural calculations is beyond the scope of this review. 9. TRUSS DESZGN Roof trusses are required to be be designed by an Oregon registered Engineer or Architect. For trusses manufactured by an approved fabrication plant, have the design and layout drawings available at the construction site for the framing inspection. All jobsite cutting or modifications of the roof trusses shall be clearly shown in the engineer's design calculations and drawings. 10, ATTIC VENTS. Provide screened attic vents with a net free area of 1/150 of the attic area (or 1/300 if between 50 of 80 percent of required area is ventilators in the upper portion of the attic and located at least 3 feet above eave or cornice vents). As an alternative, install a 1mil vapor barrier on the warm side of the ceiling, [Sec. 806.2] 11. EVERY SLEEPING ROOM shall have at least one openable window or exterior door approved for emergency egress or rescue. The window sill height shall not be more than 44 inches above the floor. The minimum net clear opening is 5.7 square feet. The minimum net clear opening height shall be 22 inches. The minimum net clear opening width shall be 20 inches.
