JONES ON 12/04/98. 2, Approval of submitted plans is not an approval of omissions or oversights by this office or of noncompliance with any applicable regulations of local government, 4. ACCEPTABILITY. This plan review covers the addition to and/ or alteration of an existing structure. This review is not intended to prohibit the building inspector from requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing structural members that may appear to be unsafe. Existing construction not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and struc- tural calculations is beyond the scope of this review, 5, BP, ABP. This structure uses a combination of Brace Wall Panels (BP) and Alternate Braced Wall Panels (ABP) to meet the cede requirements for lateral wall bracing. Insure that all BP's are located as indicated on the plans. 6. SAFETY GLAZING / AT DOOR. The following shall be considered specific hazardous locations for the purposes of glazing: Glazing, in an individual fixed or operable panel adjacent to a door where the nearest vertical edge is within a 24 inch arc of the door in a closed position and whose bottom edge is less than 60 inches above the floor or walking surface, Exception: Safety glazing is not required when there is an intervening wall or other permanent barrier between the door and the glazing. 7. THE GAPJ~GE shall be separated from the dwelling and its attic area by means of 1/2 inch gypsum board applied to the garage side of the wall. Where the separation is a floor- ceiling assembly, the structure supporting the separation shall be protected by I/2 inch gypsum board or equivalent, The door between the garage and residence shall be equipped with solid wood doors not less than I 3/8 inches in thick- ness or 20-minute fire-rated, or equivalent. [Sec. 309.1, 309.2] 8. EVERY SLEEPING ROOM shall have at least one openable window or exterior door approved for emergency egress or rescue, The window sill height shall not be more than 44 inches above the floor, The minimum net clear opening is 5,7 square feet, The minimum net clear opening height shall be 22 inches. The minimum net clear opening width shall be 20 inches. Exception: Grade floor windows may have a minimum net clear opening of 5 square feet. [Sec. 210.2. 310.2.1] 9. SMOKE DETECTORS / ALTERATIONS, When alterations, repairs or additions requiring a permit occur, or when sleeping rooms are added or created, the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as required for new dwellings: the smoke detectors shall be interconnected and hard wired, EXCEPTION: Detectors shall not be required to be inter- connected and hard wired where the alterations, repairs, or additions do not result in the exposure of electrical wiring by the removal of interior wall and ceiling finishes. [Sec. 316.1.1] 10, SMOKE DETECTORS shall be installed in each sleeping room. outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the dwelling including basements.
