DIRECTOR
Craig O. Luedeman

BUILDING INSPECTION
{503J 588-5147

Marion County

OREGON
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
DEPARTMENT

MEMO:

Date: Nov. 17, 1998

To: Gabriel Vassa Molodyh
23006 Bents rd.. NE
Aurora, OK 97002

From: Zan Ewing

Re: Septic application 98-08221

Dear Mr. Molodyh,

As I mentioned to you on the telephone yesterday, I visited your property on 11/9/98
to evaluate you~ site for the installation of a system to serve a 40 person farm labor camp. In
addition, you had exposed a portion of the of the drainlines to see if they arc suitable to be
considered as a part of the septic system since this was evidently done without permits or
inspections.
First, the flow for this proposed facility is to be calculated at 1000 gallons per day
as per a D.E.Q. a memo on a similar facility. The septic tank is required to be sized at two
times the daily sewage flow or 2000 gallons. The existing septic tank is 1000 gallons so is
inadequate in size. The drainfield and septic tank are not allowed in areas subject to traffic
or parking so the portion of the drainfield in the parking area cannot be approved. The
beginning and ends of the drainfield lines need to be exposed (without damage) to determine
if they meet state code for constructions methods, materials etc.
Th/s site is marginally approvable for the installation of a standard dralnfield. A up
slope curtain drain will be required to help lower the winter groundwater which the soil
review shows is within 20" of the ground surface for some of the winter season. 833 lineal
feet of drainfield will be required for this proposal in an area away fi.om the existing
drain, lines if they are shown to not meet code.
The system will need to be physically staked out on contour as shown on the
attached stakeout sample sheet and a detailed stakeout plan submitted. It may be of help to
you to get the assistance of an experienced septic system contractor who is familiar with
these procedures.
Give me a call if you would like to discuss this or if you have any questions on this
matter.

Community Development Center - 3150 Lancaster Dr NE, Suite C - Salem, Oregon 97305-1398
