This plan review covers the addition to and/ or alteration of an existing structure. This review is not intended to prohibit the building inspector from requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing structural members that may appear to be unsafe, Existing construction not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and struc- tural calculations is beyond the scope of this review. 5. THE PLANS SHOW BEARING WALLS SUPORTING THE NEW ROOF STRUCTURE, BUT ARE UNCLEAR AS TO HOW THESE WALLS ARE CON- STRUCTED OR SUPPORTED, THE WALL CONSTRUCTION AND SUPPORT SHALL BE FIELD EVALUATED BY THE FIELD INSPECTOR FOR ADAQUACY TO PROPERLY SUPPORT THE NEW ROOF SYSTEM. 6. SMOKE DETECTORS / ALTERATIONS, When alterations, repairs or additions requiring a permit occur, or when sleeping rooms are added or created, the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as required for new dwellings: the smoke detectors shall be interconnected and hard wired. EXCEPTION: Detectors shall notbe reguired to be inter- connected and hard wired where the alterations, repairs, or additions do not result in the exposure of electrical wiring by the removal of interior wall and ceiling finishes. [Sec. 216.1,1] 7, SMOKE DETECTORS shall be installed in each sleeping room. outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the dwelling including basements. All detectors located outside sleeping rooms shall be interconnected such that the actuation of one alarm will actuate these alarms in the individual unit and shall provide an alarm which will be audible in all sleeping areas, Smoke detectors shall be 110 volt with batter back-up.
