This plan review covers the addition to and/ or alteration of an existing structure. This review is not intended to prohibit the building inspector from requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing structural members that may appear to be unsafe. Existing construction not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and struc tural calculations is beyond the scope of this review, 4, SMOKE DETECTORS / ALTEP~qTIONS. When alterations, repairs or additions are made to an existing dwelling, the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as required for new dwellings. The smoke detectors are not required to be interconnected unless other remodeling con- siderations require removal of the appropriate wall and ceiling coverings to facilitate interconnecting wiring, [Section 316,1.1] 5. SMOKE DETECTORS shall be installed in each sleeping room, outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the dwelling including basements, All detectors shall be inter- connected such that the actuation of one alarm will actuate all the alarms in the individual unit and shall provide an alarm which will be audible in all sleeping areas. [Section 216,1] Smoke detectors shall be 11D volt with battery back-up. [Sec. 216.2] 6. BP, ABP ATTACHED, This structure uses a combination of Brace Wall Panels (BP) and Alternate Braced Wall Panels (ABP)to meet the code requirements for lateral wall bracing, Insure that all BP's and ABP's are located as indicated on the plans and constructed as shown on the plans and the attached detail sheets. 7. ADD A RIDGE SUPPORT AT 2' OFF OF THE EXISTING ROOF SYSTEM, USE 2X4 MATERIAL, 8. EVERY SLEEPING ROOM shall have at least one openable window or exterior door approved for emergency egress or rescue. The window sill height shall not be more than 44 inches above the floor. The minimum net clear opening is 5,7 square feet. The minimum net clear opening height shall be 22 inches, The minimum net clear opening width shall be 20 inches, Exception: Grade floor windows may have a minimum net clear opening of 5 square feet.
