Approval of submitted plans is not an approval of omissions <br /> or oversights by this office or of noncompliance with any <br /> applicable regulations of local government. <br />3. SMOKE D~TECTORS / ALTERATIONS, When alterations, repairs or <br /> additions are made to an existing dwelling, the entire <br /> building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as <br /> required for new dwellings, The smoke detectors are not <br /> required to be interconnected unless other remodeling con- <br /> siderations require removal of the appropriate wall and <br /> ceiling coverings to facilitate interconnecting wiring. <br /> [Section 316.1,1] <br />4. SMOKE DETECTORS shall be installed in each sleeping room, <br /> outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate <br /> vicinity of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the <br /> dwelling including basements. All detectors shall be inter- <br /> connected such that the actuation of one alarm will actuate <br /> all the alarms in the individual unit and shall provide an <br /> alarm which will be audible in all sleeping areas. <br /> [Section 316.1] Smoke detectors shall be IlO volt with <br /> battery back-up. [Sec, 316.2] <br />5, ACCEPTABILITY, This plan review covers the addition to and/ <br /> or alteration of an existing structure, This review is not <br /> intended to prohibit the building inspector from requesting <br /> an evaluation of the acceptability of existing structural <br /> members that may appear to be unsafe. Existing construction <br /> not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and struc- <br /> tural calculations is beyond the scope of this review. <br />6. THE GABLE END TRUSS SHOWN ON THE PLANS IS NOT SELF SUPPORTIN <br /> G. SECURLY A~ACH A NEW LOAD BEARING TRUSS TIGHT UP AGAINST <br /> THE EXISTING GABLE TRUSS, <br />7. INSURE THAT THE TRUSS(ES) THAT HOLD UP THE PART OF THE EXIST <br /> ING ROOF SYSTEM AND/OR THE ADDITIONAL NEW ROOF SECTION IS <br /> (ARE) DESIGNED TO CARRY THAT LOAD. <br />8. LOT DRAINAGE, Lots shall be provided with adequate drainage <br /> and shall be graded so as to drain surface water away from <br /> foundation walls, The grade away from foundation walls shall <br /> fall a minimum of 6 inches within the first 10 feet. Where <br /> lot lines, walls or other physical barriers prohibit <br /> 6 inches of fall within 10 feet, drains or other approved <br /> means shall be provided to ensure positive drainage. <br /> [Sec. 401.3] <br />9. MAXIMUM FILL HEIGHT, The foundation/basement wall was re- <br /> viewed assuming a maximum 4 feet of unbalanced fill or less. <br /> If the actual height of fill is more than 4 feet. then an <br /> addendum to this plan review shall be made by the permit <br /> holder, by submitting to this office revised foundation/ <br /> basement wall plans that are an engineered design (with cal- <br /> culations) showing the true fill height or that meet the <br /> requirements of Table 404.1:1b in the code. SUBMIT BEFORE <br /> CONSTRUCTION COMMENCES, <br />10, VAPOR BARRIER, An approved vapor barrier with joints lapped <br /> not less than 12 inches shall be placed between the concrete <br /> floor slab and the base course or subgrade.
