The Pioneer Engineering Corporation
Project No: S97-0124
06/09/97
Page No: iv

If this option is chosen, we recommend the construction of a daylight basement to optimize project
COSTS.

Floor slab

We anticipate the use of a flamed slab with crawl space for this project. If slab-on-grade is used, it
may be supported directly on existing fill subgrade or on structural fills after topsoil removal. All slab
subgrade areas should be prepared in accordance with our site preparation recommendations.

In order to minimize potential for visible cracking due to differential settlemenTS, we recommend the
placement of additional reinfomement in any slab-on-grade.

Slope Protection

We recommend the installation of an interceptor drain along the northesu property boundary in order to
minimize surface water sun-off from uphill areas and subsequent erosion of on-site fill slope. The
interceptor drain should be connected to a suitable receptacle such as a storm drain.

Existing fill slope should be covered with erosion mat, vegetation, or mulch, etc. to minimize ongoing
severe erosion. Roof downspouTS and all other drains must be discharged beyond the toe area of the
slope or into a suitable receptacle such as storm drain.

Septic system shouM not be installed in the fill slope area. Moreover, areas near the toe of the slope
should not be excavated without consulting a geotechnical engineer.
