3-4-97 Marion County Building Inspection Attention: Chuck Monschein Building Inspection Supervisor BUILO!NG ~NSPECTION Storage building constructed under 096-06425 This letter is in reference to the letter' that was sent to Mr. Fred Podhora on or about the 20th of February, regarding his 24'wide x 40'long building. The purpose of this letter is te propose our intent to resolve the issues that have been brough~ to the attention of Marion County and Tuff Shed Inc. The first issue will be that of the Dura Temp siding and its application. It is correct that the manufacturer recom~mends a 1/8" space along the panel edges. The panels are designed with a spacer on the under side of the panel edge in order t~ provide this space on every application. Next is the issue of overpene- tration of the siding. Tuff Shed agrees %hat this issue needs be repaired as recommended by the manufacturer, and intends to do so. A third concern is the recommendation by the manufacturer that panel edges be sealed. Tuff Shed assures the county and the homeowner, that the top and bottom of the wall panels were sealed with an exterior latex sealer prior to being installed. However, the side edges are not sealed and are recom~ended tc be cauike~ and painted with the rest of the building, which the homeowner elected to have completed by someone other than Tuff Shed Inc. ~e ~zna~ concern with the siding, wou~a~ ~ be the bowing on the East and Westwa~s-~ ~ of the building. It is our be~e~ ' - that the warpage is from the convex shape of the siding when pulled from the individual units, and as noted by Chuck Monschein of Hazioh County, appears only on the panel edges. This apparent bowing is seen on most all of our approximately 20 display units .... a warranty issue, however, Tuff Shed agrees to brace one or both sides of the studs said to be bowing. Where we do not guarantee that this will straighten the studs commie%ely, we do believe it will help. The next discussed issue is the roof and roofing material.
