Stairways shall not be less than ~ feet in clear width and <br /> the headroom shall not be less than 6 feet 8 inches. The <br /> minimum required stair tread width is 9 inches. The <br /> maximum stair rise is 8 inches. When risers are <br /> closed, ali. treads may have a uniform projection not to <br /> exceed 1 and 1/2 inches. The greatest riser height shall <br /> not exceed the smallest by more than 3/8 inch. (R-213.1) <br /> 8. Handrails meeting the following reguirements shall be <br /> provided on at least one side of stairways.
