Rm. 132 <br />Salem, OR. 97301-3670 <br /> <br />Re: Site evaluation 7671 & 7651 Weaver Lane S.E., Aumsville. <br /> <br />Last week I met with Janice Womack on the above property off 75th Place as apparently she was having <br />problems with the septic site evaluations. I could see the <br />holes needed deepening so we had the existing test holes deepened to 6 1/2' and a pair of new holes dug <br />toward the S.E. corner of the property where it aPlxars higher. <br /> <br />Most of the test holes had free water standing in the bottom of the holes at about 6 1/2' from the ground <br />surface. There is obviously a permanent water table consideration on the property that must be <br />addressed. What I saw in the soil profiles looks like the permanent water may get up to about 44" or so <br />from the ground surface. What makes me think this is the water table depth is that the upper gravels are <br />brownish in color and this coloration stops fairly abruptly at about 44" and the gravel below this line is <br />gray. What I think is happening is that the fluctuating water table is washing the gravel of soil particles <br />leaving the lower gravel the gray color and cleaner. <br /> <br />Attached is a well log for the house on the property which address is 7501 Weaver Lane. This area <br />according to my eye level is a bit lower than where we had the new holes dug and appears to support the <br />static water table levels observed in the test pits. <br /> <br />What I would suggest is a bottomless sand filter system constructed into the upper portion of the coarse <br />gravel say 16" to 18" deep into the grouncL This should provide the separation of 24" to the permanent <br />water table as required under OAR 340-71-290 (3) (b) (A). There will not be a loading rate of greater <br />than 450 gallons per half acre so (c) of this section shouldn't be a concern. <br /> <br />If you could go back out to the property and look at the deepened test pits and the 2 new holes and let me <br />know what you think of my theory I would appreciate It.
