Marion County

OREGON
COMMUNITY i~ EVEI~OPMENT
DEPARTMENT

NOVEMBER 29, 1994

FiLE

NOi~WOIEN
10163 MILL CR~K ROAD S~
ALTMSVILLE, OREGON 97~5

SUBJECT: T:$$~ R:iW, SECT:31AB, T/L:400. SEPTIC REVIEW
10163 MILL CREEK ROAD SE. AUMSVILLE, OR 97325

i stopped by this property November 15th and November
lSth to review the moil test pit which is dug within the
area of the proposed replacement septic ~ystem. Unfortu~
nately, the water table was so near the ground surface
(at 16 & 13 inckes of the surface) during the visits that
I could not examine the soil profile at the depth neCes-
sary to consider any septic system other than a substan-
dard alternative sand filter/capping fill system.

If Z understand correctly, the current segtic system
drainfield is partially on the adjacent property which
mu~t be re-located wholly within the boundaries of your
own property.

It appears that thermate two problems with the proposal;
Pirst; the substandard soll conditions. And, second; too
little ~pace to construct the appropriate replacement
system. The enclosed setback list outlines minimum set-
back and separation distances for components of septic
systems. Note, especially the 100 feet from all well~.

A sand filter/capping fill septic system can be quite
complicated and expensive. Also, it probably can only be
successfully constructed during the dry soil SLUmmer
season. We have hand-out information of the different
septic systems which may be of benefit to you. I Suggest
that you stop by our office Monday through Priday, during
the morning hours to further discuss your proposal.

Call, if you have any questions.

LEE A.
