Marion County

OREGON
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
DEPARTMENT

Ctai~ e Lum~ernan
1~03) 588-5~47

i~03} 5~so3~
OFFICER

January 17, 1992

Mr. Kevin Filotei
19875 Hubbard Cutoff Road NE
Aurora, Oregon 97002

Dear Mr, Filotei:

An inspection of your property was made on January 16,
1992 in response to your application for an on-site
sewage system repair permit. During that inspection it
was noted that your existing septic system is failing and
discharging sewage to the ground surface west of your
house. This appears to be the only area available for
repair of the system after observing the required set-
backs from the stream and your well. The soils in the
lowland adjacent ~o the stream are not acoeptable and the
system must be located on the higher ground next to the
house, Th~ first step in repairing the system is to
determine exactly how much disposal field is currently on
the property and where it is located. After that has been
determined, it appears that there are two options for
repair:
1~ Installation of a standard disposal field Jn the
area of the current system. This option is dependent
upon where the existing system is located and if there
sufficient area to install a disposal field. It must be
noted that there is insufficient area to install a full
sized standard system that meets the current Department
of Environmental Quality rules. Due to the limited
area, the disposal ~ield must be undersized and cannot
have the life expectancy of a normal System. A notation
will be attached to the permit stating that the dispos-
al field is undersized and is considered a substandard

2. Installation of a sand filter alternative system.
The location of the disposal field, as noted above, is
dependent upon where the existing field is looated. The
disposal field for a ~and filter is considerably small-
er than a standard system and it appears that there is
sufficient area on the property for a system that mee~
the D.E.Q. rules. Detailed plans are required prior to
the issuance of a permit for a sand filter.

Senator~ - 220 High Street NE Salem, Oregon 97301-3670
