The parcel ls nearly level, with slopes ranging from
0 to 2 percent. Distinct mottles were present In the proposed
dralnfleld area e[ I0 to 12 Inches below the ground surface.
Exploration on the parcel revealed e very limited area where mottles
w~re encountered a: Iq to 16 Inches below the ground surface.

Harlon County monitored the depth tO water on the parcel last
winter. On 12/30/77, they found perched water at 2" on the ~est
lot; 2" on the middle lot; 3" on the east tot; and standing water
in the low areas. On 2/22/78, parched water wa~ found at 4" on
the west lot; 6" on the middle lot; and 12" on the east lot,

PE.q. posed Subsurface Olsposal Hodl.~..!catlons:

To compensate for the above-described soil and water condltlonsr
the following dralnfleld design modifications were ~roposed:

Prior to Installation of the dralnfleld, t8" of topsoil
~ould be placed over and extended 15 ft. from the
Initial dralnfleld area.

600 lineal feet of disposal trench would be Installed
3q inches below the top of the

The amount of u,saturated soil during the ~lnter to dispose and
treat the septic effluent Is too Ilmlted to be effectively compen-
sated for by the proposed modifications. For · drelnfleld to
function properly~ It must be placed in an aerated profile.
