• Hangar Delta Alternative Methods Construction
October 13, 2017
Page 2
hangar) at a distance of 34'-11"away. Thus, the portion of the building which actually doesn't
meet the 60 foot yard standard is a very small portion of the perimeter, and faces a building that
is of lower fire risk than a hangar.
The 412.4.6 Exception 2 standard allows for up to a 75,000 sf building with 64,000 sf fire area.
The combined area of Delta and Bravo, when considered as one building, has a fire area of
22,564 sf,which is 35%of allowable. That there is a significant separation between Delta and
Bravo means that actual fire risks are further reduced. Sheet T1.1 shows that under IBC the
actual area is 25%of allowable area. That the proposal is for much less than the allowable areas,
means that fire and other hazards also are reduced, which means an alternate for the east yard,
such as proposed, is reasonable to allow.
