Based on approvals and testing, the proposed alternatives provide an equivalent or
superior level of protection which is prescribed by NFPA 13.
Coolers
Currently NFPA 13 does not have a ceiling-only protection option for dry and preaction systems for
multiple row racks. All currently published protection options for storage 30 ft. high require in-rack
sprinklers. Sprinklers installed in racks and in freezers are potentially problematic due to there susceptibility
to mechanical damage. For dry-pipe systems, there is potential for significant property damage and business
interruption due to water discharge and water freezing within the sprinkler system if an in-rack sprinkler is
damaged.
Over S32 or all Ahem empleyee3
told r i fes:Or I C`I f canons.
