The intent of this
role, though not very clear, is to allow the attachment of awnings and carports to the sidewalls of
manufactured dwellings.

The proper attachment of Im awning or carport should consist of the following: The awning or carport
rail should be attached with lag screws directly to each sidewall stud (studs are usually at 16" on center).
Attachment to the siding only is not acceptable and we do not recommend attaching rails to sidewall top
plates. The single 1" top plates will easily split out from the lag screws and neither 1" or 2" manufactured
dwelling top plates are designed to tr~£ the roof live loads of the manufactured dwelling or the
awning/carport to ~e stads.~~alg~7~~iii.¢~&irr~)t

~illlffilll;~llmR~t ·allf. t l~~!O ~ o,,~l~r,',WOu 10.,,b O~ BlOie'.;~'
!!~-~euts should be made according to t. he awning/carport manufacturer's
engineered plum with special attention paid to the top and bottom post com~ections and ground anchors.

Regarding your question of which take~ precedence for the attachment of accessory structure~ to
manufactured dwellings (manufactured dwelling manufacturer's installation instructions rs.
