July 6, 1994

APPLICANT:
SITE NUMBER:

SAND FILTER EYSTEM CONSTRUCTION DETAIL SHEET

LYON & ASSOCIATES
94-2224, PARCEL 2

Your site has been found suitable for a SAND FILTER ALTERNATIVE SEWAGE
DISPOSAL SYSTEM. The following construction specifications shall apply to the
installation of your septic system.

1. The septic tank shall have a minimum liquid capacity of 1000
gallons.

The projected daily sewage flow for this project is calculated at
450 ~allons Der day. Eased on soil conditions observed on this
site, the disposal field will be sised at 45 lineal feet pe~ .~50
~allons of projected daily sewage flow. A minimum of 135 lineal
feet of disposal field will be required for your proposed develop-
ment. The disposal trenches are constructed two (2) feet wide and
on minimum ten (10) foot centers and with no line exceeding 125
feet in length. The trenches and perforated pipe are installed
level (fl") and contoured to follow the natural ground surface.

The disposal field shall be constructed with serial distribution
with a minimum trench depth of 12 inches and a maximum trench
depth of .~2 inches. There must be at least 16 inches of backfill
over the top of the gravel, measured from the natural ground
surface.

The sand filter system shall be designed and operated as per OAR
340-71-290 through 340-71-305. Detailed plans for the system must
be submitted prior to permit issuance. A building permit is
required if a site built concrete box is used as the sand filter
container. A pamphlet is available in our office which details the
requirements for a sand filter system.

A capping fill is required with this system. The system shall be
constructed as indicated on the attached Capping Fill construction detail
sheet.

An effluent lift pump may be necessary to construct the disposal field
in the approved area and at the correct depth.

This approval is site specific to the area tested and the septic system
must be located in the immediate area of the test pits unless otherwise autho-
rized by this office. A new site evaluation may be required if the system is
proposed for a different area on the property.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS~
Construct the drainfields within the immediate area of the upper
(northerly) two test pits. Soil conditions are marginal, use care not to
alter the natural topsoil prior to drainfield construction. Note, the
shallow depth of the drainline trenches. The sand filter might be
elevated to achieve gravity flow into the shallow trenches. A precon-
struction field stakeout is recommended to establish the elevations and
locations of the individual drainfield lines of both systems. The
capping fill part of the installation is limited to the dry soil summer
season. Refer to the capping fill installation requirements for add-
itional information.

THIS IS NOT A PERMIT TO INSTALL THE SEPTIC ~T~M, DO NOT INS~a?3.
