This review is not intended to prohibit the building <br />inspector from requesting an evaluation of the acceptability of existing <br />structural members that may aD,ear to be unsafe. Exieting construction <br />not specifically detailed in the submitted plans and structural <br />calculations is beyond the scope of this review. <br /> <br />ATTIC AND C~RAWL SPACES~ Within an attic er crawl space where entry is <br />made only for service of utilities, foam plastics shall be protected <br />against ignition bF 1 i/2" mineral fiber ins~lation, 1/4" thick plywood, <br />3/8" partieleboard, 1/6" hardboard, or 3/8" gyps~ board wallboard, <br />eorrision ~esistant ste~l having a base metal thickness of 0.016 inch, <br />or other approved material installed in such a manner that the foam <br />plastic is net exposed. The protective covering shall be consistent <br />with the requirements for the type of construction. <br /> <br />A minimum 3-foot landing shall be required on each side of an egress <br />door .... The landing shall not be more than 8 1/2" below the top <br />of the threshold. (R-212) <br /> <br />If an existing bedroom EMERGENCY ~RESS WINDOW (OR DOOR) is being <br />removed in the construction of the addittion/remodel, then another <br />egress window or door shall be installed. <br /> <br />THE REPLACEMENT DOOR BETWEEN THE MOUSE AND THE NEW PORCH SHALL HE AN <br />INSULATED DOOR WITH A MINIMUM "U" RATING OF 0.2. <br /> <br />When alterations repairs or additions are made to an existing dwelling, <br />the entire building shall be provided with smoke detectors located as <br />required for new dwellings. (R-215.1) <br /> <br />Individual glazed areas in hazardous locations shall pass the test <br />(CPSC 16-CFR) requirements of Section R-208.3 (safety glazing). <br />Hazardous locations are considered as follows: <br />a. In doors and within 24 inches of a door. <br /> <br />This plan uses an ENGINEERED DESIGN to meet the lateral wall <br />bracing requirements of the code. INSURE THAT ALL DETAILED <br />CONSTRUCTION REQUIPd~MENTS SHOWN ON THE pLANS AND ON THE ATTACHED <br />8 1/2"xll" EN~INEERIN~ SHEETS ARE FOLLOWED. <br /> <br />"APPROVED" only when this sheet is attached to plans <br /> <br /> <br />
