MARION COUNTY BUILDING INSPECTION <br />ON-SITE SEWAGE PROGR~M <br /> EFFLUENT LIFT PUMp GUIDE <br /> (for single family dwelling only) <br /> <br />NOTE: <br /> <br />Nothing in these specifications shall be construed to set aside <br />applicable building, plumbing, electrical or other codes. <br /> <br />DOSING TANK [Refer to OAR 340-71-220(7) and 340-73-050] <br /> <br />1. Constructed of concrete, fiberglass or other non corrosive <br /> material; designed and reinforced to withstand the loads imposed <br /> upon the top, walls and bottom. <br />2. Minimum liquid capacity equal to the projected daily sewage flow <br /> (typically 450 gallons) as measured from the floor of the tank to <br /> the invert of inlet. <br />3. Provide a water tight riser and manhole cover extending to or <br /> above finished grade. The manhole cover shall be durable, odor <br /> tight and securely fastened with a minimum is" inside horizontal <br /> measurement. <br />4. Constructed watertight with all joints in concrete sections <br /> sealed with butyl rope caulking, all grouting done with hydrau- <br /> lic, adhesive type cement and all utility passages sealed. <br /> (Manufacturers responsibility) <br />5. Installed on a stable, level base° <br />6. Weighted with antibuoyance device where needed to prevent floata- <br /> tion. <br /> <br />PUMP [Refer to OAR 340-73-055] <br /> <br />Motors shall be continuous duty with overload protection. <br />Impellers of bronze, cast iron or other approved materials. <br />Capable of passing 3/4 inch solid sphere. (except when placed <br />within screen) <br />Provide easy, readily accessible means of electrical disconnect. <br />Provide and secure a noncorrosive (polypropylene rope) lifting <br />device as a means of removal for servicing. <br /> <br />CONTROLS [Refer to OAR 340-73-055] <br /> <br />1. Level control by sealed mercury float switches with a minimum <br />mercury tube rating of 12 amp. at 115 volts A.C. <br />2. Switches installed so that not more than 20 percent of the <br /> projected daily sewage flow is discharged each cycle (typically <br /> 90 gallons). <br />3. An audible and visual, high water level alarm with manual silence <br /> switch needs to be located in or near the building served by the <br /> pump. The alarm float is installed so that 1/3 or more of the <br /> tank volume remains for storage from the alarm "ON" level (typi- <br /> cally 150 gallons or more). <br />4. Level controls are set on a noncorrosive, nonbuoyant, readily <br /> accessible device separate from the pump discharge piping (see <br /> diagram). All wiring shall be secured with nylon ties. Avoid <br /> tape, wire ties and loose wires and cords. <br />5. An electrical permit, inspection and approval by the Marion <br /> County Building Inspection electrical inspector is required for <br /> all electr~ <br /> <br /> <br />
