The location of the rest rooms on the edge of the
lake does not provide any opportunity to add to the
existing drainfield. It is necessary to upgrade the
existing septic system if any expansion of the rest room
building is allowed. Nor, is there any readily available
space to construct more drainfield on the upper terrace
adjacent to the store or the gas station.

A review of our records indicates that a similar applica-
tion was submitted 8/22/87 by Zane Kelly to remodel the
rest rooms and include a bath house. The application was
canceled when unable to re-connect to the existing septic
system with the additional projected sewage flow load.

Further review of some 55 pages of history pertaining to
the marina fails to find any record approving the origi-
nal rest room at the edge of the marina. I cannot think
of any instance where the septic system drainfield could
have been located any closer than fifty feet from the
lake. Laking any prior approval of facility, we cannot
authorize expansion or alteration to the existing build-
ing and septic system. Your application must be denied.

Please contact our office with any information that you
may have. I am usually in the offioe between 8 and 10 AM.

LEE~A. ~TiST
MARION COUNTY, BUILDING INSPECTIONS

Senator Building 220 High Street NE Salem, Oregon 97301-3670
