July 6, 1994

APPLICANT:
SITE NUMBER~

SAND FILTER SYSTEM ~ONSTRUCTION DETAIL SHEET

LYON & ASSOCIATES
94-2225, PARCEL 1

Your site has been found suitable for a SAND FILTER ALTERNATIVE SEWAGE
DISPOSAL SYSTEM. The following construction specifications shall apply to the
installation of your septic system.

The septic tank shall have a minimum liquid capacity of 1000
gallons.

The projected daily sewage flow for this project is calculated at
450 gallons per d~y. Based on soil conditions observed on this
site~ the disposal field will be sized at 45 lineal feet per 150
qallons of projected daily sewage flow. A minimum of 135 lineal
feet of disposal field will be required for your proposed develop-
ment. The disposal trenches are constructed two (2) feet wide and
on minimum ten (10) foot centers and with no line exceeding 125
feet in length. The trenches and perforated pipe are installed
level (±1") and contoured to follow the natural ground surface.

The disposal field shall be constructed with serial distribution
with a minimum trench depth of 24 inches and a maximum trench
depth of 24 inches. There must be at least 12 inches of backfill
over the top of the gravel, measured from the natural ground

4. The sand filter system shall be designed and operated as per OAR
340-71-290 through 340-71-305. Detailed plans for the system must
be submitted prior to permit issuance. A building permit is
required if a site built concrete box is used as the sand filter
container. A pamphlet is available in our office which details the
requirements for a sand filter system.

This approval is site specific to the area tested and the septic system
must be located in the immediate area of the test pits unless otherwise autho-
rized by this office. A new site evaluation may be required if the system is
proposed for a different area on the property.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
Construct the drainfields only within the immediate area of the center
test pit. The easterly pit is too close to an existing well. Soil condi-
tions are marginal. Use care not to alter the natural topsoil prior to
construction. A preconstruction field stakeout is recommended to
establish the elevations and locations of the individual drainfield
lines of both systems. The sand filter might need to be elevated to
achieve gravity flow into the shallow drainfield lines. Refer to the
stakeout procedure and the setback list for details to complete the
stakeout. Filter fabric should be used to cover the drain rock in lieu
of paper or straw in loamy soils.

THIS IS NOT A PERMIT TO INSTALL THE SEPTIC SYSTEM. DO NOT INS~a?.?. THE SYSTEM

UNTIL A VA~ID PERMIT ~AS B~EN ISSUED BY THIS OFFICE.
