DETROIT AVENUE
DETROIT, OREGON 97342

SUBJECT: EXISTING SEPTIC SYSTEM REVIEW FOR REPAIR
T. 10S., R.5E., SECTION 01. SITE 92-177~

I have been researching possibilities for a solution to
the necessary septic system repair at your Korner Post
Restaurant. The problem is that the repair completed in
1989 occupies essentially the entire area of your proper-
ty which can be considered for septic system construc-
tion. Even the 1989 repair was constructed within the
site of the original system when it failed to function
properly. Repairs are most successful when constructed in
the natural, undisturbed, deep well drained topsoil.

I appears that the existing system cannot process the
daily sewage waste flow with its current capacity. Part
of the problem might be its size and part of the problem
the soil conditions. At this point, if a repair must be
completed within the boundaries of your property, a dif-
ferent type of septic system will probably be necessary.
I suspect that an alternative sand filter system must be
an integral part of any considered repair.

Even more than the sand filter may be appropriate to
complete a successful repair. Another component of sec-
ondary sewage treatment, which is in use in repairs simi-
lar to your situation, is a unit known as a "nibbler"
(see pamphlet enclosed). This unit is installed in con-
junction with sand filter systems and other types of
systems to assist with the complete treatment of sewage
effluent in difficult situations.
