AQUA TEST, OREGON

MEMORANDUM

From:

Re:

Joe Petrovich, R.S., DEQ-WVR

Dan Bush, Aqua Test, OR

Korner Post Eatery

August 25, 1993

Enclosed is some information on the InfiltratorTM gravelless chamber system,
including a set of installation instructions.

On a copy of the plot plan is highlighted the new seepage trench sections
where the chamber apparatus is proposed to be incorporated.

On a sketch of the proposed seepage trench are entered notes and comments
regarding the construction, po.~ition and relationship of the conventional and
alternate technology,

Essentially, conventional 36 inch wide seepage trenches are constructed to the
same criteria as the existing and level to the established elevations of the
trenches and distribution piping (gravity), On top of the finished grade of the
drainrock, in the absence of filter fabric or other protective material, is placed
the lengths (6 ft. 3 in. ea.) of the chamber system. Because of a difference of 3
inches between the outside width of the chamber (33 in.) and that of the trench
(36 in.) it is necessary to install some protective material such a straw or filter
fabric over the exposed gravel between the exterior of the chamber and the
excavated trench sidewall (it is not necessary or even recommended to cover
the entire width of the chamber area with fabric). The termination of the
chambers should be finished with end plates from the manufacture. In
addition it is suggested to install one or more monitoring ports through the
plastic chamber material (provisions exist), The point of connection to the
existing trenches should be marked for future reference. Following
inspection~ the trenches can be backfilled with native material free of rock.

I hope this meets your needs in this matter. If not or if I can be of some
assistance, please let me know.

Dan Bush, R,S,
Aqua Test, OR
