Lee Grimes, Sanitarian
Marion County Building Department
220 High Street NE
Salem, OR 97310

Re:

MARION COUNTY
BUILDING INSPECTION

DEPARTMENT (-)F

ENVIRONMENTAL

QUALITY

SS-Korner Post Eatery
Repair Permit Authorization
Detroit, Oregon
Marion County

Dear Lee:

I have been in communication with Darlene Mann, owner of
the Korner Post Restaurant in Detroit, and her consultant,
Dan Bush, of Aqua Test, Inc. After much discussion, the
best solution for the failing system is a Nibbler, a
recirculating gravel filter, and using a modified disposal
field. Unfortunately, the cost of this installation
appears to be beyond the financial capability of the owner
at this time. We have decided that a phased approach is
appropriate. Therefore, we are requesting that upon
application fro~ Darlene Mann, Marion County issue a
repair permit to modify/install a new septic tank and
modify the existing disposal field at this time. The
permit should be issued based on the attached documents
and should be conditioned as follows:

In the interest of protecting public health, it is
necessary to make interim repair to the system
serving the Korner Post Eatery by no later than
October 30, 1993.

This repair system is not expected to resolve the
sewage problems over the long term and is considered
a temporary emergency measure to protect public
health.

Infiltrators shall be used as the distribution
mechanism for the new disposal field over 36 inch
wide seepage trenches.

4. The new disposal field trenches shall be installed
as shown on the attached plot plan.

5. Length of the new disposal field, with Infiltrators,
is approximately 117 feet, but the exact footage
will be determined at the time of installation and
shall consist of as much footage as can be installed
leaving room for appropriate setbacks, the future
recirculating gravel filter and Nibbler unit(s).

750 Front SI.
