Davis
8212 Davis Ridge Dr.
Aumsville, OR 97325

SUBJECT: YOUR LETTER OF SEPTEMBER 15, 1993

Dear Mrs. Davis

I have received your letter of September 15, 1993 and
after investigating the incident that you described,
wanted to respond.

First, let me assure you, that your impression of our
customer service as demonstrated by our office staff and
field inspectors TOny and John is the image that we work
very hard to maintain.

While the regulations that we administer are very rigid
and do not allow much latitude in their application, we
are committed to maintaining an open, friendly relation-
ship with our customers.

Since I was not present when the ~xchange took place, I
can only piece together what happened from your letter,
my conversation with Mr. Hess, the written file, and
several discussions with Lee. There are certainly many
areas where things could have been handled better and a
more positive outcome achieved. My discussions with Mr.
Hess have identified some problems with our current
policy of the issuing of septic permits to homeowners,
and we will be making some modifications in the future to
enhance communication.

I want to express to you my apology for the bad experi-
ence you related to me in your letter. I assure you that
I hold all my staff accountable for their actions. I
also hope that in time you will remember us for the
pleasant experiences you had.

Senator Building 220 High Street NE Salem, Oregon 97301.3670
