This review is based on the regulations of the Oregon <br /> state Structural Specialty Code 1990 Edition. <br /> <br /> This plan review covers the alteration of an existing structure. This review <br /> is not intended to prohibit the building inspector from requesting an <br /> evaluation of the acceptability of existing structural members that may appear <br /> to be unsafe. Existing construction not specifically detailed in the plans <br /> and structural calculations is beyond th~ scope of this review. <br /> <br />This building is required to be accessible to and useable by the <br />physically handicapped. Details and dimensions'not shown shall comply <br />with the 1986 ANS~ Al17.1 standards and the requirements of Chapter 31. <br />(3101) <br /> <br />Doorways, for handicap access, shall have a minimum clear opening of 32 <br />inches with the door open 90 degrees, measured between the face of the <br />door and the stop. (ANSI 4.13.5) <br /> <br />By interpretation of Section 4.17.3 of ANSI A-117.1, the State of Oregon <br />Building Codes Agency has ruled that toilet stalls shown in Figure 30(b) <br />are not acceptable in new construction. The use of these stall <br />configurations is limited to existing buildings where structural <br />considerations would prohibit the use of the standard stall. <br /> <br />Grab bars for water closets shall be installed in accessible toilet <br />rooms or stalls. (ANSI 4.16.4; 4.17.6) <br /> <br />Exit doors shall swing in the direction of exit travel when serving an <br />occupant load of 50 or more.
