iNS'£ALLAT'ION OF 1,000 GALLON AND 1,500 GALLON SEPTIC
TANKS AND DOSING-SEPTIC TANKS

ALL TANKS must be set level on undisturbed earth or sand bedding
to prevent settlelng. Use 3/4" Kens Seal ~£ or approwed equal
to seal all field joints. If Joints must be disturbed, replace
all old Kent Seal wi~h new material. If Kent Seal is unavailable,
an acceptable substlSute is groat made with hydrolic cement
mixed in the specified proportions.

ALL dosing-septic tanks should be water Sested when installed,
before back-filling and before hooking up to sewer pipe, So
test for leakage and ~o prevent floating in hlgh water areas.

~'LOAT level controls in 1,000 gallon dosing-septic tank are to
be see as follows:

With regard to the pump controls, a 4 inch cycle is required for all new
single family dwelling building sites. This is a minimum criteria for
standard systems, but a maximum criteria for those ~ystems utilizing
pressurized d~stribution. Based upon the original engineering ~pecifi-
cations for the dosing~septic tank, the off-level can be no greater than
~-41.5 inches from the bottom of the tank~ Measuring from the top exteri-
or of the tank, the off-level would then measure 21.5 inches. This way,
as according to DEQ rules, the tank would have a remaining capacity
after*cycle of 900 gallons~ With a 4 inch cycle, the pump on-level
would then measure 17.5 inches, again measured from the top exterior
edge of the tank. With regard to the alarm, which has.been the compo-
nent of the p~eset controls found to be out of coordination, for reasons
of providing some level of storage volume within the tank, an operatin~
level of 15 inches has been established. In this way, a zone between
the pump on-level and the alarm of 1.5 inches can be maintained and at
least 3 inches or approximately 66 gallon~ of storage volume can be
provided upon alarm signal. To make things simpler for the construction
~ndustry, we have b~en operating on the following measurements;

Pump Off - 21 inches; Pump On - 17 inches, Alarm

~ll of which are measured from a straight edge, laid across the
exterior of the tank. where the Orenco b%~cket Js umed, we have
factor of 1 inch to account for the raised edge of the bucket which
would increase each of these measurements accordingly.

Measurements for 1,500 gallon tank from top of tank are the same,
only the remaining capacity changes.*

Note to home owners: ALL tanks should be pumped every five (5)
years for ~he average famlly of five (5). This ls to prevent
serious sludge damage to the leach fleld~.
